Your Privacy Matters: Date Delight respects your personal privacy. We do not sell your personal data to data brokers or advertising networks. This policy explains what information we collect, how it is protected, and how you retain control over your data.
1. Information We Collect
To connect you with compatible singles, we collect information that you provide directly and data generated through your usage of the Service:
- Account Credentials: Mobile phone number, optional email address, and verification challenge tokens.
- Profile Information: Display name, age/birthdate, gender, dating intent, interests, education, profession, and bio.
- Media & Voice: Photos you upload, profile audio/voice prompts, and interactive poll questions.
- Location Data: Geographic coordinates provided with your device permission, translated into coarse geohashes (~4.9km) to show nearby candidates without revealing your exact pinpoint location.
- Microphone & Call Audio: With your permission, your microphone is used for voice prompts you record and for in-app voice calls with your matches. Call audio is carried live by our calling provider (Agora) and is not recorded or stored by us. Calls continue while the app is in the background, which Android shows as an ongoing call notification.
- Notifications: A push token issued by Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging) for your device, so we can alert you to calls, matches, likes and messages.
- Purchases: Subscriptions are sold and billed by Google Play. Google shares a purchase token and its status with us so we can unlock your plan; we never see or store your card, bank or UPI details.
- Interactions: Profiles you like, pass, match with, and messages exchanged through our end-to-end transit secured chat.
- Device & Telemetry: Device identifier, operating system version, IP address, and application crash reports.
We do not collect face scans or any other biometric data. Selfie verification was discontinued on October 2, 2026, and the face data collected for it has been deleted.
2. How We Use Your Information
We process your data strictly for legitimate operational purposes:
- To generate discovery recommendations based on your preferences and location.
- To enable real-time messaging, mutual matching, and voice call signaling.
- To protect members against catfishing, harassment, spam, and underage usage.
- To process account deactivation, data export, or deletion requests.
- To comply with statutory legal requirements and assist law enforcement when formally subpoenaed.
We do not use your photos, voice, messages or location for advertising, and we do not sell any of it.
3. Information Sharing & Third-Party Service Providers
We do not sell, trade, or monetize your personal data. Information is only shared under strictly controlled conditions:
- With Other Members: Your public profile details (photos, bio, prompts, approximate distance) are visible to potential matches. Your private phone number and email are never disclosed to other users.
- Infrastructure Providers: Trusted cloud infrastructure (AWS for secure hosting, SMS gateways for OTP delivery, MinIO/S3 for encrypted media storage, Agora for live call audio, Google Firebase for push notifications, Google Play for subscription billing).
- Safety & Legal Compliance: When required by law or to protect the safety and rights of our community members.
4. Data Retention & Erasure
We retain your information only as long as your account remains active or as required by law. When you delete your account:
- All profile attributes, photos, prompts, and location records are permanently purged.
- Your phone number and email are released so you can register fresh if you choose to return.
- Messages you sent are anonymized, and active matches are severed.
5. Your Rights & Choices (GDPR, CCPA & DPDP Act)
Depending on your jurisdiction, you have statutory rights regarding your personal information:
- Right to Access & Portability: You can export a machine-readable copy of your personal data anytime in Settings via
/api/v1/account/data-export.
- Right to Rectification: Edit your profile information, photos, and preferences whenever you wish.
- Right to Deletion / Erasure: Request permanent deletion of all account data in Settings with immediate effect.
- Permissions Control: Manage push notifications and location permissions via your device settings.
6. Children's Privacy
Date Delight is exclusively for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 18. If we become aware that a minor has created an account, the account and all associated data are purged immediately.
7. Security Safeguards
We implement comprehensive security measures, including HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit, Argon2 password and token hashing, strict database access controls, and automated rate-limiting to protect your data from unauthorized access or breach.
